Using Neck Massager Packing Data for Freight Quotations

A neck massager’s product weight is not enough to obtain a useful freight quotation. A forwarder needs to know what is actually being shipped: the approved retail pack, the number of units in each master carton, and the carton’s measured dimensions and gross weight.

For buyers, the difficult part is keeping those figures tied to the same product configuration. A change to the insert, accessories or retail box can alter the shipping data even when the device itself stays the same.

Start with the packed sample, not the device specification

First identify the exact model, version and contents included in the quote. Ask the supplier to show the device, cable, instructions, protective insert and any other agreed components together in the retail box. Record the retail box’s outside dimensions and packed weight, not just the massager’s net weight.

The F10 photos in Meilan’s supplied product materials illustrate this distinction. The device sits in a shaped insert with a cable inside the box. The photograph helps a buyer identify the pack being discussed; it does not establish the box’s measured dimensions or weight.

F10 sample packaging: use this arrangement to confirm the quoted contents before measuring a sealed retail pack.

If the brand changes the insert, adds a manual or revises the box, request updated measurements. Do not carry forward figures from the earlier packaging version.

Separate retail-box data from master-carton data

A retail box and a shipping carton answer different questions. The first determines the size of one sellable unit. The second is what the forwarder typically handles, measures and prices for a bulk shipment.

Data to requestWhat the buyer should confirm
Retail packOutside length × width × height and packed weight
Master cartonOutside length × width × height and gross weight
Carton quantityNumber of complete retail units in one master carton
Carton identificationModel, configuration, packaging revision and carton marking
Total shipmentNumber of master cartons and destination

Ask for units of measurement on every figure. “Carton size: 45 × 35 × 30” is incomplete without cm or in, and “weight: 12” is incomplete without kg or lb. Confirm whether dimensions were measured after the carton was sealed and whether gross weight includes the carton and packing materials.

An F10 retail box is not a master carton. Its appearance can help identify the packaging revision, but a freight quote still requires measured carton data.

Check how the forwarder will use the figures

Give the forwarder both carton dimensions and gross weight. Different transport services may compare actual weight with a volume-based chargeable weight, using their own rules. Buyers should therefore ask the forwarder which measurements, rounding method and service terms it used—rather than assuming that the lowest device weight produces the lowest freight cost.

For a fair comparison, send the same approved packing sheet to each forwarder. If one quote assumes loose retail boxes and another assumes master cartons or pallets, the prices are not based on the same shipment. Also state the collection point, destination and requested service. Packing data alone cannot settle customs, duties or delivery terms.

Reconcile the sample, packing sheet and quotation

Before accepting a freight figure, compare three records:

  1. Approved packed sample: What is physically inside the retail box?
  2. Supplier packing sheet: How many of those boxes fit in a master carton, and what are its measured dimensions and gross weight?
  3. Forwarder quotation: Which carton count, dimensions, weight and route were used?

The figures should describe the same model and packaging revision. If the supplier proposes a different carton quantity to reduce freight, ask whether that arrangement has been packed and measured. A proposed layout is not yet a confirmed shipping specification.

For product selection, review Meilan’s neck massager range. Once you have selected a model, use its product page to identify the configuration, then request a version-matched packing sheet rather than treating general product information as shipping data.

Send a quote-ready request

A useful request to the supplier can be brief:

Please confirm the exact model and packaging revision for our order. Send the approved retail-pack contents, retail-box dimensions and packed weight, units per master carton, sealed master-carton dimensions and gross weight, and total carton count. Please state the measurement units and provide photos of the packed unit and closed master carton.

Send the confirmed sheet to your forwarder and ask which figures determine its chargeable weight. If the packaging changes after the quote, request a revised sheet and freight price before approving the order.

Contact Meilan with your selected model, intended retail packaging, order quantity and destination to request the packing information needed for a freight quotation.
