Why Compliance Documents Must Stay Attached to the Named Model
A compliance file is evidence for the products, standards and scope written in that file. Buyers should connect each CE, EMC, FCC, RoHS or test document to the exact model named in it before using the document in a sourcing decision.
Start with the model identifier
The model name or model list is the first matching point between a product and a document. A visually similar product or another model from the same manufacturer should not be assumed to share the same coverage.
- Match the document model to the quoted product
- Check the stated standards and document type
- Confirm whether variants are explicitly listed
Different documents answer different questions
CE, EMC, FCC and RoHS references do not mean the same thing, and a test report is not interchangeable with every certificate or declaration. The target market and buyer's compliance process determine which evidence needs review.
Recheck documents when the configuration changes
Changes to electronics, wireless functions, power components or model identity may affect the relevance of existing files. Document review should therefore be part of configuration approval rather than a generic claim applied to the whole catalog.
